This endearing sculpture of a little mouse sitting delicately on the stem of a hand painted Poppy is by sculptor Michael Simpson. The tiny mouse has no weight and yet the Poppy stem has to bend gently in support utilising the inherent strength of bronze. The design finished by the art of patination where various acids are applied to the surface of the bronze and heat applied to create a deep rich brown patina.
